The intent of the Mid-Eastern Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation is to provide
regional training programs that are directed toward practitioners. In addition,
rotating the location provides more equitable opportunities for everyone to
take periodic advantage of the available training. Your support and understanding
of those people contributing their time and efforts is most appreciated.
The Mid-Eastern Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation is a non-profit corporation.
Any proceeds from the annual symposium, book sales, mailing list sales, etc.,
provide the means for operation. Expenses include the mailing list revision,
evaluations, seed money for continuous planning and other administrative costs.
The symposium is required by the I.R.S. regulations to meet the conditions
established for non-profit status.
A rotating Board of Directors oversees the Mid-Eastern Symposium, but the development,
planning, programming, and management for the annual symposium is under the
direction and supervision of a Steering Committee. The coordinator(s) for the
Steering Committee is selected by the Board of Directors, and then the steering
committee is identified, appointed, and organized by the coordinator(s). If
you have suggestions or want to volunteer to help further this cause, please
contact a representative on the Board of Directors listed below. Please note
that the year indicated after their name denotes the year that individual rotates
off of the Board.
