Student Scholarship Information and
Application
PURPOSE:
The Mid-Eastern Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation provides
opportunities for full-time undergraduate and graduate students
studying therapeutic recreation in college/university programs
to attend the Symposium. By attending such an experience,
it is hoped that the student will gain a broader perspective
of therapeutic recreation, trends, issues and state of the
art practice. It is expected that the student will share
his or her experience with fellow students, colleagues and
professors. The student will be expected to help at the Mid-Eastern
Symposium.
THE SCHOLARSHIP:
The Student Scholarship will cover the following expenses:
1. registration
2. hotel accommodations at double occupancy
rate. Note: Scholarship recipient will be expected to provide
and pay for their own transportation.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible the student must:
1. be a full-time (12 credits or more) undergraduate or
graduate student with a major or concentration in therapeutic
recreation.
2. have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in your major.
3. be recommended by a departmental faculty member in the
college/university.
4. have demonstrated their interest in therapeutic recreation
by their involvement in the profession outside of class (member
of a professional organization, recreation volunteer or employees,
etc.)
SELECTION OF RECIPIENT:
The Student Scholarship Committee will review and code all
applications and remove any identifying information to ensure
a blind review by the selection committee. The selection
committee will consists of the Mid-Eastern Symposium on Therapeutic
Recreation Board of Directors.
